Convergence of Movements of the Peoples of the Americas (COMPA): COMPA is a broad-based, autonomous, diverse, and democratic movement which spans the Americas. Through COMPA, women and men from different organized sectors struggle together to construct alternatives to neoliberal globalization, towards a new society. COMPA offers the opportunity for diverse peoples of the Americas to unite and strengthen themselves, to communicate, share, strategize, and build a continental movement.
U.S. Social Forum: This website has been set up as an information gateway for US groups interested in participating in the US Social Forum process and for groups outside the United States to keep up to date on progress of the US movement. In the tradition of the World Social Forum begun in Brasil five years ago, the US Social Forum initiative will work to create a space for US-based organizations to come together to exchange experiences and strengthen alliances among mass organizations, people's movements and civil society organizations. A social forum is meant to provide space for groups to share strategies and tactics for creating a world based on principles rooted in social justice instead of mere profit.
World Social Forum 2004: The World Social Forum is not an organisation, not a united front platform, but "...an open meeting place for reflective thinking, democratic debate of ideas, formulation of proposals, free exchange of experiences and inter-linking for effective action, by groups and movements of civil society that are opposed to neo- liberalism and to domination of the world by capital and any form of imperialism, and are committed to building a society centred on the human person." (From the WSF Charter of Principles).
